Hi, I’m Risani – an ex-hairstylist, ex-finance/admin assistant, ex-nail technician, ex-makeup artist, ex-personal assistant, and ex-manager. Life took an unexpected turn almost 7 years ago when I decorated my very first set of cowgirl royal icing cookies. Let’s just say, I was hooked!
I’ve been so blessed to leave my other jobs behind and focus solely on my passion — creating edible art here in Richards Bay. Yes, it truly is art. In my bakery, I don’t believe in simply copying designs from a machine. Every cookie, cupcake, Rizzie, or birthday cake I make is handmade, hand-drawn, hand-painted, and hand-decorated with care. Clients who know my work say they can spot my treats instantly at any event — one of my trademarks is that my cookies are never overly thick, but always full of flavor.
And of course, my running joke is my new slogan: “If it’s not late, it’s not made by me.” I just can’t say no to clients, which means my timing can get… interesting. I often work long hours — at least four nights a week — with Thursdays and Fridays turning into all-nighters to get every order done in time for events. You’ll often find me in my “all-nighter outfit” (a.k.a. my PJs), because let’s be honest, they’re the most comfortable for decorating cookies, cupcakes, Rizzies, and custom cakes until the early hours of the morning.
